The Stonefield Sportponies
Stonefield Sportponies breeds and trains sportponies and small sporthorses for
those looking to be competitive with a smaller mount in the disciplines of dressage,
hunters/jumpers, eventing and driving. The ponies are bred and selected for
pedigree, performance and personality - all in a smaller package.
The focus of the breeding is on exceptional temperament, matched with lovely
movement and athletic talent. New Forest Ponies and German Riding Ponies are the
most prevalent at Stonefield, though you can occasionally find a few other breeds on
the farm. Many of the ponies bred by Stonefield, the New Forests in particular, carry
the SFF prefix on their name. With foundation stock from England, Canada, The
Netherlands and the US, and access to some incredible internationally renowned
stallions the pony potential is unlimited!
Training of the ponies is quiet, slow and methodical, with emphasis on building each
pony's confidence in their work and keeping them happy with that work. The ponies
are worked with from day one, with lots of attention, and then moving onto groundwork
and finally under saddle work, when age appropriate. The primary foundation is
dressage, with a little jumping, showing and hacking out thrown in for fun...

Stonefield Farm
Stonefield Farm, started some time ago in the colder northeast and has moved
south, to the lovely foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Mount Airy, North
Carolina. Enough snow for the ponies to play in occasionally, and enough sun to
melt it quickly! Inquiries and visitors by appointment are always welcome.
